marcello Posted April 23, 2005 Report Posted April 23, 2005 It looks like a very young Jane Fonda. Quote
Jim R Posted April 23, 2005 Report Posted April 23, 2005 It's a young Shari Lewis (sans Lambchop), before the curly hair and the facelift. Okay, I'm going to ask one, and unfortunately I don't know the answer. Maybe some of the moldier figs around here can help identify this actress (I love this cover) Quote
Bright Moments Posted April 23, 2005 Author Report Posted April 23, 2005 Shari Lewis? Jim, you are too good! correct! the first pic is from her album fun in shariland!!! Quote
Jim R Posted April 23, 2005 Report Posted April 23, 2005 Maybe some of the moldier figs around here can help identify this actress (I love this cover) She was an actress and model... not upper echelon in terms of fame, but I'm pretty sure I would recognize her name if somebody posted it. I'm thinking she made appearances on a number of tv shows in the late 50's (Perry Mason, Dragnet, and such), but I can't seem to locate any info online. Anybody know any sites that might have info on this type of thing? Quote
JSngry Posted April 23, 2005 Report Posted April 23, 2005 Shari Lewis was a master of disguise. She was famous for doing stand-in work for Gisele MacKenzie , Shirley Jones, & Ruta Lee. It's true. Seriously - I met her briefly at a promtional appearance at a local Target a few years ago. I had dug her as a kid, and my kids dug her PBS show. So when we got up to the front of the line to get the Lambchop Angel Puppet's wings autographed and I saw my 4 yr old daughter just freakin' THRILLED to be meeting Shari Lewis, I got a little choked up and tried to say "Thank you". She looked at me kinda funny, then looked at my daughter, smiled very warmly, softly said, "You're welcome", gave us both a BIG hug, and went right back to hustling. A true pro, old school show-biz type, no doubt, but god was she cool. Hustle all you can/must, but don't lose sight of the rest of it, make time for a moment or two along the way, even blink-of-an-eye ones. I was inspired. Quote
sidewinder Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 Yes, great story Jim. Didn't Shari Lewis pass away not too long ago? She used to be a 'regular' on UK TV talk shows back in the late 60s/early 70s so all of this takes me back very much to my childhood. That 'lambchop' was quite a character - amazing what you can make out of an old sock. What I do remember about Shari was the length of those crazy false eyelashes she used to wear. A great pro, for sure ! Quote
BERIGAN Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 Yes, she did die sadly enough back in 1998, at the age of 65. One of her specials a few years before she died used to run I guess on pbs, or A&E. I remember seeing her control two life sized puppets on each side of her....she was in leotards, and she was clearly in excellent shape for being 60+! Quote
