I've seen him so many times over the years. This is the second time I'll see him without Dr Lonnie Smith. Still should be a great show.

Lou was still playing pretty well for his age. May he play for another 20 years. He had this line-up:

Ptah Williams on piano. Never heard of him, but man I wish I did. He could play. Play is an understatement. He broke the A sting an octave and a 6th above middle C. He was lighting fast, and clean. Every note was hit. He is from St. Louis. Teaching out of the university there. This was his first time in NYC. Hopefully it won’t be his last. I would go see him lead a band. Anyone here heard of him?

I believe this line-up was a last minute change. The billboard on the club entrance had Dr Smith listed, and so did the fliers at each table. Hopefully it was a scheduling issue and not something bad.

I think I saw mention on a notice that Lonnie was playing a gig in Vancouver, BC yesterday. I see that they are reunited for a gig in NYC in June. Gotta see it.. B-)
