I used to listen to Willis Conover's pgms on VOA on shortwave when I lived in Taiwan in the 80's. He had some good interviews. I particularly remember one with Bill Evans. I would love to hear some of those pgms again. As I recall he had a regular jazz pgm and another one called Standards.

Can't help here but when I was a kid, we lived in South America and the short wave was essential. I would always listen to the VOA and Willis' jazz show, with the A Train as the theme. Remember those times fondly.

I taped some of those Willis Conover broadcasts in the late fifties. They were very low fi!

Those tapes - along with rare treasures - were stored at my mother's place. When she moved out of her apartment, those treasures never made it to her new home

Spent many late evening hours trying to tune in on those broadcasts.

Would love to hear some of those broadcasts - but no lo fi! - if they survived.

I am looking for help re Conover from Jazz people who remember him

on the Voice of America. I am trying to assemble as much detail on

him to produce a biography with feedback from those who remember him
