Rooster_Ties Posted June 11, 2005 Report Posted June 11, 2005 (edited) Hi everybody, My guess is that something minor is messed up with an mp3 file I'm trying to download and burn to CD. It plays fine on two different media-players on my PC, but when I try to burn it to CD (expanded, so it'll play on a standard CD player), the track always gets cut off at only 2:30 into the tune, which should otherwise be 5:01 in length. Hey, 2:30 is exactly half of 5:01 (or nearly so), so is that a clue about what's wrong with the file??? Perhaps I should mention that one of my media players plays the track correctly, and displays the correct 5:01 length. The other player plays the track correctly, but displays a length of 2:30 (it just keeps playing the track to the end, even though the wrong time is shown). The track is a tune called "Resurrection", an can be found on two different web-pages -- though I'm pretty sure the file is the same on both pages, since I get the same problem no matter which one I download. Here are the two links where the file can be found. http://bartholomusic.com/music.html http://rivaband.com/music.html The musician, Adrian Bartholomew, is local to Kansas City currently, but grew up in Trinidad. Here's his bio, if anybody's interested: http://bartholomusic.com/story.html Anything that can be done to fix this track?? Thanks!! -- Rooster T. Edited June 12, 2005 by Rooster_Ties Quote
rostasi Posted June 11, 2005 Report Posted June 11, 2005 OK RT, this is the best I can do...I think... Seems to be nothing wrong with the file itself. Opened it up in a sound editing program and all looks just fine. I *did* normalize it, but noticed nothing strange really. Anyway, try here: http://stasick.org/resurrection.mp3 If you still have probs, then I'm guessing that it's hardware-based. Rod --- Now playing: Adam Pieronczyk - Japanais Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted June 12, 2005 Author Report Posted June 12, 2005 (edited) That seems to have done the trick. The file is bigger now too, but more importantly -- the tune comes up in both my media-players correctly, and in my CD burning software correctly too (which it didn't do before). Haven't tried actually burning it yet -- but I'm about sure it'll work this time. THANKS rostasi. Much appreciated!!!!! Edited June 12, 2005 by Rooster_Ties Quote
