White Lightning Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 Lars Gullin was probably one of Europe's best Jazzists. IMHO, he was one of the true bari giants. I believe that even those of us who love his music, often tend to neglect his tunesmith abilities - his amazing song writing ability. Some of his melodies that I really like are: Merlin, Danny's Dream, Late Date, Aeros Aromatica Atomica Suite, Kvartet Oron, Silhouette, Fine Together, Late Summer and many many others. So let's hear it for The great Gullin. ps, While I was kayaking in Alaska, I kept hearing Gullin's melodies in my head. They seemed like the perfect soundtrack for Glacier Bay Nat'l Park: Quote
jazzbo Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 That one does look good; I've never heard anything by that guy. I'm a big Gullin fan. I really love those Dragon cds that are out; reminds me I have to find the latest one! He did write very well. And he had such a wonderful sound and feel to his music. Quote
