Noj Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 Williams is greatly improved, fwiw. He's become a much more controlled, reliable point guard. I've never thought much of Walker. Quote
Guy Berger Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 Williams is greatly improved, fwiw. He's become a much more controlled, reliable point guard. I've never thought much of Walker. ← Walker will always be a chucker and Williams still has issues (not as much as in the past), but these guys are huge upgrades on the nobodies that Miami had last year. This is a really good team. The only potential bump on the way to title contention is whether an aging Shaq can still last a whole championship run. He broke down last year by March or April and I could see the problem repeating itself in 2006. Guy Quote
BruceW Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 Don't really know why Miami obtained Antoine Walker but Williams will be a definite asset (even with some of his issues). The boy can play guard position and he will be happy to get the ball to a healthy Shaq. Antoine will be prone to hogging the ball. BTW; anybody notice how quickly Miami dumped Eddie Jones after getting Shaq? Same thing happened in LA, remember. Quote
Chalupa Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 BTW; anybody notice how quickly Miami dumped Eddie Jones after getting Shaq? Same thing happened in LA, remember. ← Actually, Shaq and Eddie played together for 2 1/2 seasons in LA. Jones departure had more to do w/ the emergence of Kobe and the need for an outside shooter(Glen Rice) to run Phil Jackson's triangle offense. I think the Heat got rid of Eddie because his body is starting to show mileage of 11 NBA seasons. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted August 6, 2005 Author Report Posted August 6, 2005 the heat need some muscle to bang down low w/ shaq Quote
paul secor Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 Interesting comment in a USA Today column yesterday (read it on the run & don't remember the columnist). He was writing about Pat Riley making the trade to make a further legacy and get a championship with the Heat, and his final comment was - would you stake your career on Antoine Walker and Jason Williams? I think that career was a poor word to use - Riley already has a career and a legacy - but the point is a good one. As with many things - time will tell. Quote
