RDK Posted September 26, 2005 Report Posted September 26, 2005 Looks like I'm tagging along with my wife as she's attending some legal conference in our nation's capitol next week (Oct. 6-9 or so), so I'm looking for any tips on good jazz shows, museum exhibits, or used record/CD stores that I should check out. I know we have some D.C. locals on the board, so please point me in the right direction. And if any of you guys are free for a lunch or a show, let me know - I'm game to be entertained. Haven't been to D.C. in about a decade, so I'm looking forward to the mini-vacation. Quote
bertrand Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 I'll check around. The Washington City paper has listings and will be out Thursday. In the meantime, you can check Bluesalley.com and twinsjazz.com. These are the principal clubs for national acts. I saw that Joseph Henson will be at Twins on 10/6. He's an excellent local player from the Army bands. Perhaps we could hook up for this one. It would be cool to meet. I may go to PA on the week-end to see Wayne in either Philly or Easton, PA (or both!). Too bad you're not there this Saturday. FREE Wayne concert on the Mall (also Wallace Roney and Fort Apache band). Bertrand. Quote
RDK Posted October 2, 2005 Author Report Posted October 2, 2005 Bertrand, you have a PM. Anyone else with any recommendations? Quote
bertrand Posted October 3, 2005 Report Posted October 3, 2005 Ray, I sent a PM with my phone numbers but I'm not sure it went out. If not, I'll try again tonight. Bertrand. Quote

GregN Posted October 3, 2005 Report Posted October 3, 2005 Greg, What do you need to know? I've been there dozens of times. The place is kind of pricey, and the owners seem kind of clueless, but the music is often very good, and that's what counts. One annoying thing: they never know the personnel when you call, even after a set or two has already taken place! How lame is that? Bertrand. ← I think the owner knows of this forum...ahem, so all I have to say is, uh, er, So, you say the music is good? Cool! lol p.s. In all seriousness, appreciate the feedback. Quote
