David Ayers Posted December 6, 2005 Report Posted December 6, 2005 So often that strip leaves gum on the CD case and turns it into a mess. I've tried white spirit which cleans it off but also fogs the CD case. Anyone got any better ideas? Talk about customer unfriendly! They don''t use these strips in Europe. Quote
Don Brown Posted December 6, 2005 Report Posted December 6, 2005 The best thing is WD40. Takes off the goo extremely easily and doesn't affect the jewel case in any way. Quote
spinlps Posted December 6, 2005 Report Posted December 6, 2005 I use Goo Gone... works for the cd strips and removing gunk off of LP jackets. Quote
David Ayers Posted December 6, 2005 Author Report Posted December 6, 2005 Thanks Guys - good tips. I'll start with the WD 40. I've never seen Goo Gone though I can see that might do the trick! Quote

Man with the Golden Arm Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 (edited) BESTINE!!!! dagnabbit! the WD40 and Goo Gone are too oily and will no doubt leave a residue as well as that awful petrol smell. Might even stain the booklets if they are light and get into the fibers of the paper. Bestine was used mainly as a rubber cement thinner back in the publishing days of placing old "paste ups" when something was not able to go thru the waxing machine. You can get a small can that is similar to the kind the Tin Man used, but flat. Dribbles out just enough and wipe the residue with a tissue a couple times.
