I'm a great Hammond fan, and I just discovered this site. Imagine my surprise when I found this old post from Jim Alfredson:

>>My dream organ was on Ebay a couple weeks ago... A 1954 Hammond B2 with a Leslie 21H and a Leslie 31H... all for an opening bid of $1995. It closed at $2155. That is a damn steal for a Hammond and two Leslies. I wanted to bid on it so badly, but my wife said, "You already have four organs. What do you need another for?">>

What an excellent woman! I bought that rig from a guy in Chicago! Really beautiful condition. The previous owner had just had a lot of work done to it (adding smooth drawbars, Trek percussion, Trek reverb, new pedal felts, a rebuilt 21H amp, etc.) I had the preamp re-built, and installed new upstop and downstop felts, cleaned and lubed everything, refinished the pedals, replaced bearings in the Leslies and threw in a few new tubes. It just screams, and the bass from two field coil woofers shakes my house. (It's my dream organ, too!) It's so much cooler than playing the clone rig I used to have. There's nothing like the real thing...

I let Jim know about this today, not to make him jealous, but to reassure him that at least it went to a good home! (And one just 70 or so miles from his own.)

Jim, I'll give you rights of first refusal if I ever decide to sell it. (Actually, the odds are quite low that I'm ever going to sell it. You may just have to convince my kids to sell it to you from my estate.) :o
