EKE BBB Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 (edited) ... who are Chico Alvaraz (tpt as well)...? Guess it´s Alfredo "Chico" Álvarez, a Canadian-born trumpeter who was with Stan Kenton in the 40s and later with Maynard Ferguson. Edited December 29, 2005 by EKE BBB Quote
EKE BBB Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 who are ... Willard McDaniel (piano)? He was a blues/R&B/boogie-woogie pianist (even recorded with Elmore James). There´s a disc under his name, "88 à la carte" (Crown 5024) recorded in the 50s. AMG review Quote

brownie Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 (edited) Chico Alvarez is in the trumpet section of the Stan Kenton orchestra in this William Gottlieb photo: [Portrait of Stan Kenton, June Christy, Laurindo Almeida, Eddie Safranski, Bob Gioga, Shelly Manne, Chico Alvarez, Ray Wetzel, and Harry Betts, Richmond, Va.(?), 1947 or 1948] / William P. Gottlieb [photograph] contemporaryladySF's mother might be one of the lady (no, not June Christy) making friends with a lucky young boy at the stage entrance! Edited February 8, 2007 by brownie Quote
