I'm not sure why people are recommending the Coltrane CD to him. If he doesn't like "out" jazz, and the VV box is too "out" for him, then there is no way in hell he'll like One Down, One Up.

I don't think Life at the Half Note is much further out than the VV. Haven't heard the VV box lately but I've been locked on ODOU. I actually think the music is more cohesive than the VV.

Because of this discussion, I pulled out the first disc of the VV box and played it tonight.

As so often happens, I found that my perception of the disc had been colored by my dislike of an early track. In this case, I don't much go for the first two tracks, but like the remainder.

I ordered One Down from BMG for $9.99, so for that price I can afford to take a chance and find out what all the talk is about.

You guys have got me thinking that I should get them both!

But if I do, I will have to put off spending the Christmas money earmarked for the DVD box of the first season of Remington Steele, the year that it was funny.

Any of you TV DVD aficiandoes want to persuade me that the DVD is more important than the jazz?

By the way, I met Stephanie Zimbalist fifteen years ago. She was very charming, and I must say one of the most beautiful women I have ever met - even prettier than on television.

Maybe so but does she like Jazz? Get the box you can always snag the tv show further on down the line. It's probably less likely to go oop or run afoul of the Davis estate or Coltrane estate whichever the case may be.

LOL!

The Coltrane is backordered.

I received today my Miles package. They sent me the wrong box! I received the Jack Johnson box instead of the IASW box. I already have the Jack Johnson with the metal spine.

I notified them right away. We'll see how long it takes for me to get the IASW Sessions.

My Coltrane shipped on the 20th and arrived on the 24th.

The IASW box arrived today.

So I'm good to go.

They said that they would send me a postage-paid label to return the Jack Johnson box with, but I haven't received it yet.

It takes a while, and you may have to send them a reminder email or two in order to get it.

Ron, I've sent the reminder email, and received a response, so I'm not going to be concerned about it. The ball is in their court.

Too bad I already have the Jack Johnson! Well, it's not taking up much space on the shelf. :)
