Dave James Posted February 21, 2006 Report Posted February 21, 2006 (edited) As good as 24 is, I don't know how much longer it can last. The show has wargamed just about every possible terrorist scenario...assassination, nuclear, biological, nerve gas etc. I'm not sure what plot line is left to plumb that wouldn't wind up being like a "second verse, same as the first" situation. Kind of ironic to think that a TV show could tap itself out because there aren't enough combatible terrorist threats to go around. Up over and out. Edited February 21, 2006 by Dave James Quote
Harold_Z Posted February 22, 2006 Author Report Posted February 22, 2006 It is Republican in some ways and not in others. Certainly Walt Cummings' plot confirms the worst fears of some left-wingers... Guy That's about how I see it too. Having a Nixon clone as a boob president isn't particularly Republican and I really don't see Jack Bauer's hard line tactics as such either. Jack seems pretty apolitcal. The Right seems a part of every conspiracy that's been portrayed on the show. To me the most Republican thing about the show is the network it's on. Quote
Guy Berger Posted March 7, 2006 Report Posted March 7, 2006 GOD-DAAAAAAAAAAAAMN. I rush back home and come back just in time... to watch the end of tonight's 1st episode. When will these frickin' torrents get going? Guy Quote
kinuta Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 (edited) Is it just me or was there a major blunder with Tony's injured face ? The bandage covered the left hand side of his face, he ripped it off and in the next scene the right hand side of his face was covered in burns. Series 5 has been great so far, we've been very entertained. We should have a poll for the undisputed heavyweight 24 villain. Sherry and Tricky Dicky are strong contenders but my vote goes to good ol' Nina Myers. Edited March 8, 2006 by kinuta Quote
Harold_Z Posted March 8, 2006 Author Report Posted March 8, 2006 Nina took the cake. Tricky Dick is more of an asshole than a villain. I think the VP is going to turn out to be part of the terrorist plot. Edgar bit the dust and Chloe is brokenhearted! Quote
RDK Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Gave the ol' blood pressure a workout the other night! RIP Edgar.... Quote

Guy Berger Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 My favorite part of Monday's episodes was the quintessential Jack Bauer moment when he shot that woman in the leg. Guy Quote

Dave James Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Guy - That one scene defines the whole Jack Bauer personna. I actually think he would have shot his own mother if he thought it would get him what he needed. Really sorry to see Edgar go. Television has very few everymen and he was one of them. Looked to me like Chloe might had more of a Jones for him that you might have imagined. Geez, I thought for a second this might turn into a Captain Kirk / Mr. Spock moment from the second Star Trek movie. "...the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few..." That moment. Sure nice to see Kim again. That's a full on babe. I would advise her new boyfriend that Jack should not be trifled with in this manner. Seems to me anyone who has their radar engaged would know intuitively that this is a guy you don't want to mess with. His actions can't bode too well for his future, either with Kim or in general. Boy do I miss David Palmer. Up over and out. Quote
Guy Berger Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 And how about the eagerness to impose martial law from Vice President Chen... err Gardner. Guy Quote

Guy Berger Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 That was such a good cliffhanger I almost forgot about that ridiculous sexual harrassment subplot! Guy ps It's a good thing CTU hires chemistry majors. Quote
Harold_Z Posted March 28, 2006 Author Report Posted March 28, 2006 That was such a good cliffhanger I almost forgot about that ridiculous sexual harrassment subplot! Guy ps It's a good thing CTU hires chemistry majors. What was that sexual harrasment? Comedy relief? Chloe is a great character. Wouldn't it be a riot is she hooked it up with Jack? All in all this show continues to entertain. Yes, you have to suspend disbelief, but HEY! they never implied anything else. Henderson is fine after being tortured to near death two hours earlier. If I were in CTU I'd be looking at the the guy who does the torturing. Quote

RDK Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 Guys. It's not torture. It's "medical interogation." (My new favorite euphamism.) Quote

If I were in CTU I'd be looking at the the guy who does the torturing. Audrey bounced back pretty quickly as well. Guy True, but wasn't Henderson almost dead at one point? Audrey's "medical interogation" (thanks, RDK) didn't go as far. Of course it's a mistake to look for logic here. We won't find it....but it is one hell of an entertaning hour. Quote

Templejazz Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 so answer me this..... between running from terrorists and encountering aaron, head secret service agent, how did wayne palmer get the huge rifle..??? Quote
Guy Berger Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 (edited) Tonight's episode was great until the twist at the end which made NO SENSE given everything that's transpired in the previous 15 episodes. Guy ps I have no clue how Wayne Palmer got the rifle, but I was sure he was a goner after Jack gave him the whole "you're not coming with me" speech. pps I hope it turns out that Bill Buchanan turns out to be the real mastermind behind the day's events, and exacts his vengeance on Audrey. Or becomes her next secret lover. Edited April 4, 2006 by Guy Quote

Guy .... Yeah, but the SENSIBLE way to go was just too darned telegraphed.....I like to be shocked during a show...I shouldn't spoil the surprise now, but I got a copy of the finale, and Jack Bauer is the one behind all this! Guy Berger Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 Last night was really good. It's nice that they've brought Heller back into this, he's a good character. Guy Quote
RDK Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 Greg Itzin deserves an Emmy nod for his performance as Prez Logan. Brilliant work! Quote
