CD burning question...

i downloaded a torrented music file and burnt it and there are warbly digital sounds throughout most of the disc.

i was typing on my laptop as i burnt. is it possible i caused the warbling?

would this happen if i was shaking the burner during the burning process or are the problems with the downloaded files?

i guess i am asking if messing with a burner during the process would cause this kind of error.

as i listen to the disc in question again i guess the fact the warble is most prominent during loud trumpet passages makes me think i did not cause the noise with my slight jostling.

He could have disturbed the download stream by using other computer resources during process - no?

Could be. When I am doing any burning, the machine is hands-off until it is through.

These possible disturbences of the data stream would cause drop outs but not warbling noises. It could be compression artefacts caused by the MP3 (or other) encoding. Compare the downloaded file with the CD.

A problem I recently had was that one of my CD players had problems with CD-Rs burnt at a fast speed (more than 12x). It produced clicking noises. The CD played fine on other players.
