mrjazzman Posted April 21, 2006 Report Posted April 21, 2006 (edited) Purchased the Black Lion version of Grand Max by Charles Tolliver from Amazon. Recieved the da music version in the mail today. AMC does not list the da music version. In your opinion, which is the more valueable version. I like the Black Lion cover better........... Edited April 21, 2006 by mrjazzman Quote
mrjazzman Posted April 22, 2006 Author Report Posted April 22, 2006 So how do you like the music? Chuck, the music is fantastic. I've seen The Ringer and Grand Max in the used bins some time ago and passed them up. Heard him in Gerald Wilson's band, has a nice solo on Viva Tirada......................... Quote
Bluerein Posted April 22, 2006 Report Posted April 22, 2006 In terms of money value the Black Lion disc should be more expensive (earlies issue and long oop). In term of music value there's the same of course. Quote
BFrank Posted April 22, 2006 Report Posted April 22, 2006 I would love to see THIS show! NY Times CHARLES TOLLIVER'S MUSIC INC. CONTINUUM (Tomorrow) In the 1970's, Music Inc. was a heavy-gauge quartet designed to showcase the exertions of a blazing young trumpeter named Charles Tolliver. This reincarnation features Mr. Tolliver, whose recent re-emergence has been a welcome bit of news, and Cecil McBee, his original bassist; the continuum comes in the form of two youngbloods, the pianist Robert Glasper and the drummer E. J. Strickland. 9 and 10:30 p.m., Sista's Place, 456 Nostrand Avenue, at Jefferson Avenue, Brooklyn, (718) 398-1766 ; cover, $20. (Chinen) Quote
