BruceH Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 I've listened again to that "Reconsider Baby" compilation and rediscovered the second track: "Tomorrow Night" an unreleased Sun song that's haunting, minimalistic, and beautiful. A real "late night" number that succeeds largely because of Elvis's amazing vocal. Hard to believe this wasn't released at the time, as it's better than all but a very few of the Sun performances that WERE released. It's probably on that big multi-disc 50's box, but I haven't checked. Worth the price of the album on its own. Quote
RDK Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 What, no love for his "Memphis Album" (or however they're packaging that material these days)? Seriously, those three 5-disc boxes are probably the best way to go. Sound is better on some of the newer reissues, but those boxes cover 95% of his best work and can be had very cheaply. Quote

Much love for the "Memphis Sessions." Tons of great outtakes. Quote
medjuck Posted May 13, 2006 Report Posted May 13, 2006 (edited) Though if memory serves me well (it often doesn't) The Memphis Record has a different or edited take than the single (or at least the version on 30 No. 1 Hits): no horns and it's a minute shorter. Edited May 14, 2006 by medjuck Quote
