The reason that I ask is that I'm moving to Biloxi MS soon (my family lives there) and want to know if I'm going to get washed away in the first couple weeks that I'm there. :(

I had to live through the torture last year of not knowing if my family was alive after Katrina, it took me over a week to reach everyone. Can't do that again, so I'd rather ride it out with them.

Better plan remains to get the hell out of Dodge, together.

I didn't see the article but my wife told me that the Atlantic Hurricane forecast is 9 named storms, 5 of them major (Cat 3 or above). That's way down from last year's actual total, and lower than last year's prediction, too.

Unfortunately they never make predictions for the Gulf as opposed to the entire eastern seaboard. FWIW, she said they're also predicting that a storm will threaten the northeast this year. I can only assume that's based on averages, that the NE is due to be in the cross-hairs of the old funnel of probability.

Thanks Dan! You're in Florida, right? We should get together for a record shopping trip sometime.

:D

that's a fine idea except that we are rapidly running out of brick & mortar independents at any level of quality!

Woo hoo! Another transport...y'all come on down! :g

Awesome! Didn't know you lived in Louisiana. How far are you from the Biloxi area?

I'm really excited...can't wait to visit New Orleans again, I haven't been there since 1984.

Update:

I guess my wife was telling me about someone else's prediction (maybe the guy at Colorado State) but the National Hurricane Center issued its prediction today, and its a bit rougher than the other one:

13 to 16 named storms

8 to 10 of them will be hurricanes

4 to 6 of those will be Cat 3 or above

:blink::excited::crazy:

I'm in Pineville, just outside Alexandria. It's about 250 miles from Biloxi. Hmmm....sounds like a possible future road trip for my Yamaha! :g
