monkboughtlunch Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 Anyone pick this up? How is it? http://www.bluenote.com/detail.asp?SelectionID=10527 Quote
jazzbo Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 Personally I think it's great. I've enjoyed the album for a long time, but this is even better as it's "expanded." Some nice grooves and some more "complicated" playings too. It really has been hitting the spot for me lately. I've finally got some speakers for my lap top to make life easier for me here in temporary lodgings in Houston (bought the Bose "Companion 2"s and love them) and this cd has already made three complete circuits in my iTunes/iBook this weekend. . . . monkboughtlunch Posted May 29, 2006 Author Report Posted May 29, 2006 How's the remixed sound on this? Is this a McMaster job? How's the fidelity? Quote
jazzbo Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 (edited) It is a McMaster; I really can't comment on the "sound quality." Usually McMasters bother me endlessly on my main home system. This system makes all cds sound about the same as far as that goes, pretty decent sounding, Bose's "proprietary digital technology" sort of homogenizes all sounds, iTunes isn't as anally revealing as my other sources. jazzbo Posted May 30, 2006 Report Posted May 30, 2006 A great long "The Girl Next Door" is one of the bonus tracks and I'm glad it is. Quote

jazzbo Posted May 30, 2006 Report Posted May 30, 2006 iTunes isn't as anally revealing... Huh? Well. . .poor choice of words perhaps. What I meant to convey was that iTunes via my iBook G4 sounds great, perhaps BECAUSE it does not reveal all the information (good and bad) on recordings in comparison to say my Decware modified Sony SACD player at home. That player is much more revealing. Quote

I miss it every day here. A lot of stuff sounds fantastic, best I've ever heard. Not McMaster stuff though. I work at it with speaker placement and using resistors on my tweeters (designed to be flexible that way) and they can sound decent. B Quote
