Bright Moments Posted August 3, 2006 Report Posted August 3, 2006 i saw this (used) in my local brick and mortar shop and picked it up because of jaco: pretty good! who is brian melvin? http://www.brianmelvin.com/home.htm Quote
Guest akanalog Posted August 3, 2006 Report Posted August 3, 2006 i think i have him on some 80s jaco live stuff i downloaded that i never listen to. or he might have been on one or two of those random jaco albums that you see sometimes as japanese imports. not to be a jerk and one should not judge a book by its cover, but i would maybe have a hard time taking him seriously after checking out some of the photos on his site. well also reading some of the stuff on his site. also he spelled "grateful dead" wrong in his bio. AllenLowe Posted August 3, 2006 Report Posted August 3, 2006 funny you should mention his name - I was in Amsterdam in 1988 and went to a local jazz club, and I sat in on saxophone with the band - after I played, a drummer and pianist went up to the bandleader and asked to sit in, which they both did, and they were incredibly obnoxious, overly agressive as though trying to take over the gig - the drummer thought he was hot shit and kept telling everyone that he'd worked with Jaco - his name? You guessed it, Brian Melvin - Quote
AllenLowe Posted August 3, 2006 Report Posted August 3, 2006 actually, he spelled Grateful Dead correctly - Quote
jazzbo Posted August 3, 2006 Report Posted August 3, 2006 I had one called "Standards" with Jaco. Never did much for me. In my "I'm so damned bored with Jaco" period (which has moved into the "no Jaco for me" period) I sold it. Haven't missed it. Quote
AllenLowe Posted August 3, 2006 Report Posted August 3, 2006 I don't know if he changed it, but in the begining of the bio it has "Grateful" - Quote
robviti Posted August 3, 2006 Report Posted August 3, 2006 it's misspelled in the last paragraph. Quote
