Allan Songer Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 (edited) I've had this 10" LP for many years--I bought it from Steve Bagatelle back in the 80's and I have never seen or even HEARD of another copy. The recordings appear to be from the late 1940's and there are NO liner notes at all. THe jacket is red and it has gold lettering that says "BE - BOP" and "REM Records--33 1/3 RPM" and on the bottom right corner of the jacket there is the number "11." I was discussing Teddy Edwards with someone and offered to make a CDR of this record for them and I dug it out this afternoon to do that, but thought I'd ask if anyone knows ANYTHING about this record or the label. Here is a scan of the label. Edited August 25, 2006 by Allan Songer Quote
Stereojack Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 Can't tell you anything about the label, but I can give you the details about the tracks. They were recorded July, 1947, in LA, and were originally issued on 78 on the Rex label. The personnel is Benny Bailey (tp), Teddy Edwards (ts), Duke Brooks (p), Addison Farmer (b), Roy Porter (d). Eight tracks were cut at the date (the Rem omits Rexology & R. B.'s Wig). All 8 reissued on Onyx 215 (LP) and Cool & Blue 115 (CD). Info from Raben's "Jazz Records". Quote
Dan Gould Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 I have no idea but I believe it was Hollywood Records that put out the first Baby Face Willettte 45. Quote
