B. Goren. Posted September 2, 2006 Report Posted September 2, 2006 At the beginning of his career he was the design director for Bethlehem Records. Some of the covers he designed can be found here. RIP Mr. Goldblatt. Quote
paul secor Posted September 2, 2006 Report Posted September 2, 2006 (edited) Sad news. I was just listening to Lester Young's Laughin' To Keep from Cryin'. Burt Goldblatt took the wonderful cover photo. I'll think of him every time I play it. Edited September 2, 2006 by paul secor Quote
Jim R Posted September 2, 2006 Report Posted September 2, 2006 Sad news. I was just listening to Lester Young's Laughin' To Keep from Cryin'. Burt Goldblatt took the wonderful cover photo. I'll think of him every time I play it. Wow... I've always liked that photo, but never knew who took it. Goldblatt's name has been very familiar to me from seeing it on so many album covers over the years, but it's easy to take the work of someone like that too much for granted. His cover art is included in at least a couple of books ("Jazzical Moods", "In The Groove"), and I believe there are books that feature his photography, but it would be nice to see a full retrospective/compilation/biography along the lines of Manek Daver's books on David Stone Martin and the more recent books devoted to Jim Flora and Alex Steinweiss.
