Dan Gould Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 I came across an obituary of Witherspoon and noticed this: and in 1968 Recorded "The Blues is Now" with his brother, organist Jack McDuff. So I looked at the bios on AMG and found no such reference in either one. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I am guessing that the author, one Michael James, didn't know that McDuff's nickname was "Brother" and "Jimmy Witherspoon with Brother Jack McDuff" became "in 1968 Recorded "The Blues is Now" with his brother, organist Jack McDuff." That's pretty damn pathetic. And also kinda funny. Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 Saw in a Ben Folds print article in the local free weekly paper several years ago, that he was bringing his "attack piano" with him on this tour, to use on certain tunes. I'm sure the phone call interview included something to the effect of "I'm bringing a 'tack' piano with me too" - which easily got turned into an "attack piano". Simple mistake, if you don't know what a "tack" piano is -- but a pretty funny one too. Quote
