Please consider supporting local, non-commercial radio by pledging

a donation to WNUR 89.3 FM, Evanston-Chicago. WNUR's annual

phoneathon runs Feb. 8-15.

The daily, award-winning jazz and creative music show, 5 a.m. to noon,

will feature some exciting, rare, live 2006 recordings from the

Elastic Arts Foundation and the Velvet Lounge, both of Chicago. A

selection of the recordings will be played as teasers for the show

described below throughout the phoneathon jazz shows.

These rare Elastic and Velvet recordings will comprise the entire

musical content of the Thursday, Feb. 15, from 5 to 7:30 a.m. jazz

show, with host Andy Pierce (velvetchicago@gmail.com). A special

thanks is due to the musicians and venues whose support is making this

special opportunity possible.

It is interesting to note that both of the Elastic and Velvet venues

relocated with success in 2006, just as WNUR is attempting to do with its fundraiser.

New studio facilities are being built in a newer building, Louis Hall,

nearby Annie Mae Swift Hall, which WNUR has called home since May 8,

1950.

The WNUR Phoneathon Kickoff Party begins at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, at

Bill's Blues, 1029 Davis St., Evanston, featuring performances by

Michael Columbia and Bird Names. $5 @ the door; 18 and over until midnight.

Another fundraiser concert is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday, February 9, at

the Louis Room at the Norris Center on NU's Campus, 1999 Campus Drive.

Presented by Niteskool, the featured acts are Man Man and Margot & The

Nuclear So and Sos. $10 advance/$15 door.

The full event schedule is posted at: www.wnur.org. The studio phone

number is: (847) 866-WNUR. The phoneathon pledge line is: (847)

491-WNUR.
