slide_advantage_redoux Posted March 3, 2007 Report Posted March 3, 2007 Long time no post (or read). I discovered a small cache of Roswell Rudd on Youtube. Here is a video of him in concert with a Mongolian ensemble. Quote
Adam Posted March 4, 2007 Report Posted March 4, 2007 I saw them live at UCLA (opening for, uh, The Bad Plus?), and I have the album that Rudd did with them. I like it; I also tend to have a thing for jazz - Asian music fusions (is it fusion? Maybe syncretism?) Quote
mikeweil Posted March 4, 2007 Report Posted March 4, 2007 Those Mongolian are great - saw several of them live, and some have a real good groove, like good western folk. Quote
mailman Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 Thank you so very much for this link. I've only seen him twice. Once around 1970 in the basement of the old St. Peters church in NYC. Gato Barbieri was in the band but I can't recall the others. I also caught him a few years ago at Caramoor playing with Steve Lacey. That was absolutely magnificent. Quote
