Brownian Motion Posted May 25, 2007 Report Posted May 25, 2007 The other day, when I disconnected my head phones from the receiver, the tip of the jack came off and stayed lodged in the socket. I have no general or specific experience addressing this sort of problem. Should I disassemble the receiver and try to dislodge the tip myself, or take the whole unit to the shop? Quote
Eric Posted May 25, 2007 Report Posted May 25, 2007 Any way to grab part of it from the outside - say with a needle-nose pliers? Bummer Quote
Guest Bixieland Posted May 26, 2007 Report Posted May 26, 2007 It's possible you could tweeze it out...give it a whirl,...but make sure you disconnect the power supply!! Other that than...you can just take the lid off the receiver, probably just a few screws, and you'll be fine. Quote
Brownian Motion Posted May 30, 2007 Author Report Posted May 30, 2007 Thanks for the suggestions. I removed about a dozen screws and discovered that the headphone socket is anchored to a circuit-board and cannot be repaired. Replacement would require replacing the entire circuit-board. Headphone capability is important to continued harmony in my home, but rather than investing in a repair that would surely cost more than the value of the receiver, which is now 12 years old, I have decided to buy a new one.
