The other day, when I disconnected my head phones from the receiver, the tip of the jack came off and stayed lodged in the socket. I have no general or specific experience addressing this sort of problem. Should I disassemble the receiver and try to dislodge the tip myself, or take the whole unit to the shop?

It's possible you could tweeze it out...give it a whirl,...but make sure you disconnect the power supply!!

Other that than...you can just take the lid off the receiver, probably just a few screws, and you'll be fine.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I removed about a dozen screws and discovered that the headphone socket is anchored to a circuit-board and cannot be repaired. Replacement would require replacing the entire circuit-board. :(

Headphone capability is important to continued harmony in my home, :rhappy: but rather than investing in a repair that would surely cost more than the value of the receiver, which is now 12 years old, I have decided to buy a new one. :excited:
