Oh hell, I've got The Main Attraction and I think I've actually listened to it twice. It's pretty bad...but it's Grant Green man...I still gotta hear it.

Oh, I've listened to it quite a bit. "Creature" is a pretty decent slow blues. It's EASY to ignore the backing when GG's playing a slow blues.

Awesome guys, thanks for the recommendations :tup I'm going to pick it up tonight!

I thought we were trying to put you off??

;)

Nope, it didn't work :beee:

Well funny enough, I went to Half Price last night to get it (I have it on hold) and somebody dumped their Don Ellis collection there over the last couple of days (man, I love this store) so I ended up buying At Monterey (Pacific Jazz). The other Ellis titles were Live in 3 and 2/3 time (already own), Live in Montreaux, and the Connection. They also have the promos of some of the new Prestige RVG's for $6 bucks a piece (Kirk, Dameron and Haynes) and they had the new Bad Plus CD in the dollar bin. So needless to say, I'm picking up the Green in a couple of days when I replenish my funds. When I buy it, I'll report back and let you all know what I think of it.

Well, I picked this one up last week and I'm glad I did! Overall, the quibbles with this set are so minor that I don't even find myself paying attention to them, and Woody N' You does cook! By and large a mostly satisfying session.

I'm glad someone else finds this session doesn't really need any of that 'he was a bit nervous' kind of qualifier that defines it as worthy but not essential. That long blues ' Seepin' is as good as it gets for that kind of groove, just as essential as "Blues in Maudes Flat". Bob Beldon's liner notes are still great though, and I always feel he adds something from the heart with each new release he gets the chance to talk about.
