JSngry Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 Their version of Lil' Darlin' sounds like the freakin' Hi-Los or something! Quote
Noj Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 Color me intrigued. I really dig a tune they did called "Free & Easy" which I have on a compilation. Quote
JSngry Posted October 12, 2007 Author Report Posted October 12, 2007 Further research shows a 1965 Vee-Jay LP called It's Not Unusual that seems to have some jazz (or jazz oriented) material on it, including the aforementioned "Lil' Darlin' " (with lyrics that talk about "Don't dream of anybody but me", are these the standard lyrics to the Hefti melody? By whom were they written?). Anybody know if the entire album goes that way? Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 They did backing vocals on Bunky Green's "The Latinization of Bunky Green". MG Quote
JSngry Posted October 12, 2007 Author Report Posted October 12, 2007 I also understand that they did some uncredited backing vocals on an early-60s Dinah Washington album as well. Quote
