mikeweil Posted December 19, 2007 Report Posted December 19, 2007 German news announced today that another German composer of note, Harald Genzer, died on Sunday, December 16. He was born near Bremen in 1909 and went to Berlin in the early 1930s to study with Paul Hindemith. After World War II he taught in Munich at the State High School and wrote a large number of compositions in all genres. I always liked his clear and very rhythmically oriented style. Quote
mikeweil Posted December 23, 2007 Author Report Posted December 23, 2007 He was the last living pre-war Hindemith disciple. Some that Hindemith taught after 1945 may still be alive, but they're not as important. Genzmer and Bialas (who is also in his 90's) taught an army of composers in Germany, all very individual and distinct. Quote
