Spontooneous Posted December 25, 2007 Report Posted December 25, 2007 I used to supervise a small department, with five employees. The entire department was axed just before Christmas 1994. One of the co-workers never recovered -- killed herself in May 1995. The rest of us are alive and reasonably well. But I've never been able to feel as good about the holiday season since. Quote

But I've never been able to feel as good about the holiday season since. Lousy situation. And it's much worse at this time of year. I was in and out of jobs all the time in the sixties, so I guess I must have lost more than one job at Christmas, but the only one I can remember was being made redundant at Christmas 1969, when the record shop I was running had to close because the arcade in which it was located closed down. But that was the last time I changed jobs in my life; things were smooth after that. So, in a way, it was good. But that Christmas was a real pissed-off time - and the following months. MG Quote
7/4 Posted December 25, 2007 Report Posted December 25, 2007 Yea, 1983 or 84. I had a temp job at a printer and I was told I had an excellent shot at the job so I'd work harder. IT turned out the guy I was replacing was just off on vacation for a few weeks. What assholes... Of course, just being out of work and unsure about the future sucks. It's even worse during the holidays. Very painful indeed... Quote
