alocispepraluger102 Posted February 15, 2008 Report Posted February 15, 2008 Virtuoso violinist falls, fracturing his million dollar fiddle Associated Press - February 14, 2008 2:43 PM ET LONDON (AP) - Cue the violin for the story of a million-dollar instrument damaged when a virtuoso took a spill. That virtuoso is David Garrett, a former model known as the David Beckham of the classical scene. Garrett says the violin was in a case over his shoulder when he fell backwards down a flight of concrete stairs in London. He says he bought the 1772 violin (a Guadagnini) for a million dollars in 2003. He's hoping it can be fixed in New York. He's not sure it'll work. But, Garrett says, it is insured. For a Valentine's Day concert, he's making do with a borrowed Stradivarius. Copyright 2008 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. Teasing the Korean Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 Spent all his money on the instrument, couldn't afford a proper case. Oh well. Quote
porcy62 Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 (edited) Spent all his money on the instrument, couldn't afford a proper case. Oh well. Not even a platoon of bodyguards. I mean I'd be worried to death carring around one million dollar violin. Edited February 16, 2008 by porcy62 Quote
