BillF
JRR Opening salvo: "This is a shorter programme, as the BBC is going to the Met at 5:30." Back in Poorelationsville!
A Lark Ascending
Opening salvo: "This is a shorter programme, as the BBC is going to the Met at 5:30." But he then segued effortlessly into a track with Shorter! Enjoyed everything so far.

sidewinder
Don't forget Saturday night's BBC Radio 4 'Archive Hour'. Lots of jazz saxophone on that one (and Kenny G ), hosted by Soweto Kinch. Edited February 24, 2013 by sidewinder
BillF
NO JRR I tuned in for cool sounds and got Parsifal. Fun and games again next week, I see.
A Lark Ascending
I think it has something to do with time zones. Normality is generally restored once the clocks have done their business in late March. On the other hand it could be just because Wagner goes on for hours. BillF
Finally getting to hear JRR after it was delayed for over 4 hours to make way for superior music. Opening with Woody's original recording of "Apple Honey" reminds me of what we were missing!

erwbol
BBC World Service mostly. Music has been pretty much gone from there for years, though.

A Lark Ascending
We now have a new early spring sport to rival the Boat Race and the Grand National. It's called spot the JRR.
BillF
We now have a new early spring sport to rival the Boat Race and the Grand National. It's called spot the JRR. You are, of course, talking of the undermining of JRR by a "baroque infusion". http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006tnn9
A Lark Ascending
How odd. The Radio Times has it at 8.00 to allow for Das Rheingold to start at 5.00! Which doesn't bode well for the next three weeks as the clocks have changed and Rheingold is the shortest of The Ring operas! I love Wagner but I'd not expect it to throw Emmerdale or Eastenders into distant parts. Moving JRR from the 5.00 spot is like moving Christmas (the BBC clearly view it as Easter). BillF
I usually have breakfast to BBC Radio 4's Today, but as it seemed to have been given over totally this morning to the bloody Thatcher funeral, I went instead for WFIU's Night Lights online and got "Freddie Hubbard: The CTI Years" and very nice, too! A Lark Ascending
JRR back at the time God intended (all those pagans cast away now). And, if the BBC Music Magazine is to be trusted, it stays that way all through June.
Enterprise Server
I listen to KCSM FM in San Mateo, Ca on Thursday nights to a show called "All Out" by a hip dj called Greg Bridges. All hard core creative improvised music. No hip-pop, commercial or silly smooth jazz...
