dave9199
Anyone know where I can find a discography that focuses on his sessions as a leader? Thanks.
Michael Fitzgerald
The Mosaic box set covers his Mercury small group things, and the Clifford Brown box set on EmArcy covers the Brown-Roach stuff. So that's most of 1954-1960. A general discography like Bruyninckx or Lord will have most everything covered. Did you have a specific question or period you were looking into? dave9199
Well, I have Freedom Now & Percussion Bittersweet. I like them both a lot. It's interesting to hear what a drummer writes so I was wondering about his sessions as a leader as I like his songwriting so far. As a guess, I think I'm looking for stuff during his black power 1960's period. Very powerful stuff.
BFrank
You certainly should look into picking up members, don't git weary. With a lineup of Stanley Cowell, Charles Tolliver, Jymie Merritt, Gary Bartz and some vocals by Andy Bey, this is a must-have. .:.impossible
His duets with Anthony Braxton are not to be missed either Dave. I prefer Birth & Rebirth by a hair.
