Sergio Mendes is doing a brief US tour. Anyone going or has anyone seen him?

I saw him in the summer of '68, a few months after he fired everyone in Brasil '66 except Lani Hall and thus replaced them all.

It was very enjoyable pop music.

By the way, the new second singer was named Karen Philipp as I recall, and in 1972 she had the role of Lt. Dish in the pilot of the TV show MASH. I never read why she wasn't included or replaced in the cast once the show was picked up by CBS.

I've heard that Sergio is doing all the classic 60s stuff. Should be good.

Lani Hall is doing some select dates with Herb Alpert. They just played NY.

Lani is also on Sergio's latest release. She is a very overlooked and underrated singer.

Lani is a marvelous singer.

[i was able to get all the Japanese CD reissues of Sergio's recordings through about 1972. They sound fantastic. They use something called a rubidium clock, so that's why they are so good. ]
