witnesstheday Posted August 17, 2008 Report Posted August 17, 2008 Does anyone know any music which is of the same ilk as the stuff on the Twin Peaks tv show, particularly the stuff with the strange short person in the room with curtains and the stuff Audrey liked to dance to? I seriously dig that music. Quote
Quincy Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 Angelo Badalamenti was the composer for the series. Not to be too obvious, but check out the soundtracks (Twin Peaks, Fire Walk With Me, Blue Velvet.) Quote
Man with the Golden Arm Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 "Freshly Squeezed"... Lynch's tastes during that period certainly drew to the swankiest when it came to jazz and to me Badalamenti's Twin Peaks work owes a great deal to the Italian soundtracks from the sixties and surrounding. Check out sources such as Armando Trovajoli (Trovaioli), Piero Umiliani, Gianni Ferrio and others. A good place to start might be "e-music" and look for labels like 'Cinevox' and 'Right Tempo' / 'Easy Tempo' for some samplings. But do get hands on the OSTs mentioned by Quincy as well as Wild At Heart - steer a bit clear of the TP vol II. Quote

The soundtrack to Lost Highway was pretty good too. i think it's the genuine article which tarantino soundtracks try desperately to mimic Quote

Just listening to "Love is a woman" by Trovajoli. Beautiful stuff. I think this is definitely what I'm looking for. Thanks again. Any more suggestions? I guess cinevox and 'right tempo' would be good paths for me to follow. Pax vobiscum. Edited December 29, 2008 by witnesstheday Quote

There are some fine gems amid some real junk in his discography ... tho I'm not wild about his speaksinging. explore Adamson And on a related note try to find the album called 'Murder, Inc' (it is on iTunes as a vinyl rip) by Irving Joseph ... crazy good from 1960. Jazzmoose Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 Considering the start of the thread, I'm sure it involves Audrey Horne at the Great Northern and a 'magic fingers' bed, but I'm afraid to go any further... Quote
