JSngry Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 Found in the latest JazzCorner e-mail: Right after the inauguration, Clark Terry went into the hospital to save one of his playing fingers since it had become seriously infected. Everyone felt the best thing was to have Clark remain in the hospital, and he will be there for at least 2 more weeks. He has sent this message to you: "To all my family, friends and well wishers, I'm happy to report to you that The Old Man Upstairs has been good to me, and I'm on the road to recovery here in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. I had an infection in my finger bone tip, and according to the doctors' report today, after reviewing the latest tests, it seems to be on the mend. In a few weeks, I should be back on the "mound." They're taking good care of me here, thanks to all my doctors and nurses, and the hospital food here is good!" Free For All Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 I don't know how much longer Clark is going to be around, but as long as he's here the world is a better place. AFAIC he will live forever through the legacy of great music he's created. Quote
JSngry Posted February 16, 2009 Author Report Posted February 16, 2009 Agreed. But htf did he end up hospitalized in Pine Bluff, Arkansas for a finger infection, that's what I want to know. Quote
Free For All Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 I believe he lives in Pine Bluff, Jim. No shit! Quote
JSngry Posted February 16, 2009 Author Report Posted February 16, 2009 Really?!?!?! I though he was still NY area-based. Or something. Major Culver! Quote
Hot Ptah Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 (edited) I recall that when he left the Kansas University Medical Center, where he was hospitalized for his heart problem, it was reported that he was going to live with family members in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. A quick Google search of "Clark Terry Pine Bluff" reveals that he has been reasonably active in Pine Bluff since last spring, when he left the hospital in Kansas City. Ted O'Reilly Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 He's been around there for a couple of years... I believe his wife (#3) is an Arkansas native, so it makes sense. Quote
Ted O'Reilly Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 He has a connection with the University there, too: Clark Terry Jazz Festival http://clarkterryjazzfestival.tix.com/Event.asp?Event=130909 Quote

Shrdlu Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 I love being in Dixie, but Arkansas is pushing it a bit too far. I hope they have Waffle House there. Quote
