danasgoodstuff Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 I just noticed that it's just U & I on the board at the moment, so how 'bout some dialog 'bout your namesake, or is that some sort of ab stract analogy that I'm not getting? For starters, do you think that Bix's partner in crime Trambauer was as good/significant/whatever - the general consesus seems to be no, but I think Pres would beg to differ...and yes, one of the reasons I dig Tram is 'cause I play C-melody too. Lokking forward to your response, Dana Quote
AllenLowe Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 no response because everybody knows Bix and Tram were left wing Democrats - Bix campaigned for FDR, as a matter of fact - Quote
Brownian Motion Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 Only a bit OT but I'm pushing this thread: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=50753 Quote
Brownian Motion Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 no response because everybody knows Bix and Tram were left wing Democrats - Bix campaigned for FDR, as a matter of fact - This may be so, but by 1964 Beiderbecke had turned republican and was supporting Goldwater. In fact his youngest daughter was a Goldwater Girl who, after law school, clerked for William Renquist. Quote
BruceH Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 My impression has always been that Bixieland is not here for the music. Lester Young's admiration for Trumbauer does give one pause, but nonetheless I personally don't find him as interesting/significant as Beiderbecke. In that I guess I'm like most people. Quote
