Teasing the Korean Posted April 5, 2009 Report Posted April 5, 2009 I have this album. Candido's albums for ABC-Paramount in general were a mixed bag, some going for a decidedly more mainstream pop audience. I unloaded at a least one of these but I can't remember the title. I have Latin Fire but it's been a while since I've spun it. My recollection is that it was worth keeping but I don't think it was consistent all the way through. It has some major cats on it, and Manny Albam did the arrangements. I'll spin it now and get back to you. Thanks for reminding me I have this! Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted April 5, 2009 Report Posted April 5, 2009 (edited) Just spun side one. It kind of sounds like a Bob Thompson RCA album. Wordless vocals, big band, and a guy on congas. Not a huge focus on Candido, but there are some shorter passages with drum solos and rhythm section. Basically a space-age bachelor pad album - good but not the best in that category. Don't know how much you usually spend on rekkids, but I wouldn't spend $20 for it. That's just me. And avoid the stereo version. Edited April 5, 2009 by Teasing the Korean Quote
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted April 6, 2009 Author Report Posted April 6, 2009 wait whats wrong w/ the stereo version, is the spread to wide, or is it to echo, whats wrong with it. i dunno dude this kinda sounds like it could be good but not 20 dollar record good. hmm. im not mad at candidio for it, candido was always up on the times, i could not live without my SalSoul white label promo "Dancin' 'n' Prancin'" (1977)- candidio's disco lp!!! it is KILLER! Teasing the Korean Posted April 6, 2009 Report Posted April 6, 2009 Extreme separation, bass and most rhythm instruments and wordless vocals in one channel, brass and reeds in the other. Some percussion but not much else in the center. Yes, it is kind of a cool record, but not a twenty dollar one in my opinion. Quote
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted April 18, 2009 Author Report Posted April 18, 2009 hmm, i do like me some candido...... Quote
