AllenLowe Posted April 6, 2009 Report Posted April 6, 2009 didn't know they were still in business - who's in the orch? who's conducting? Quote
mr jazz Posted April 6, 2009 Author Report Posted April 6, 2009 It turned out to be 6 players and not an orchestra and it wasn't solely Kind of Blue either but a kind of best of 1959 tunes which was pleasant. Tom Williams on trumpet was his usual excellent self but seemed to be having issues with his trumpet. Can't remember all the players-Peter King on bass, someone named Guitterez on tenor, a prof from Howard on alto and a good piano player and drummer. Best tune for me was Mingus' fables of faubus. Glad I went. Quote
AllenLowe Posted April 6, 2009 Report Posted April 6, 2009 that's the Smithsonian Orchestra? Sounds more like the South Portland High School Dance Band. not that there's anything wrong with that - hope you enjoyed their rendition of The Theme From Hawaii Five-O Quote
