felser Posted May 13, 2009 Report Posted May 13, 2009 (edited) Was impressed again yesterday listening to a West Coast pianist named Theo Saunders, this time on a John Burgess CD which also benefitted from the contributions of the great bassist Henry Franklin. I remember being pretty blown away whey I heard Saunders' own CD a few years ago. Utter mastery and imagination, and nothing to make him particulary inaccessable for a listener. What do people know about Saunders, anyone else a fan like me, and why isn't he better known? (is it just geography, that he's not in the 212 area code?). Thx. Edited May 13, 2009 by felser Quote
Guest Bill Barton Posted May 15, 2009 Report Posted May 15, 2009 Hmmm... I can't help you with more info about Saunders but I'm intrigued. When I ran a search on his name at AMG I found the listing for his CD Three for All, which was reviewed very favorably by Organissimo-ite Ken Dryden, and it turns out that Chris Symer is the bassist on this recording from 1996. Chris is a fine player and is heard these days around the Seattle area with Daniel Barry's Walk All Ways group and others. Quote
