Harold_Z Posted July 25, 2009 Author Report Posted July 25, 2009 Yes. To no avail. Further research indicates that I can uninstall AVG and then reinstall Itunes. Or set up an extension path in avg for itunes. Seems easier to uninstall. I was scanning my external drive with AVG and getting the same false positves when I found the above link. I stopped the scan. Next step is to disable the warnings one way or the other. Quote
Harold_Z Posted July 25, 2009 Author Report Posted July 25, 2009 I uninstalled AVG and was able to reinstall Itunes. My library was intact when I opened it. I'll either wait a couple of days to reinstall AVG or go to another product. Quote
Shawn Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 I was using AVG and had TONS of problems with it...most notably it was a TOTAL recourse hog and slowed my computer down to a crawl. I just switched to Avast and it works much smoother and my computer has regained it's speed. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 I dumped AVG faster than Dave Kingman dropping a fly ball. My complaints on the Firefox thread I started? They all went away once I got rid of AVG and used 'system restore'. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 This happened to me last night. Still haven't been able to re-install iTunes. I guess I'll uninstall AVG and see if that works. What a bummer; AVG used to be great but like all great software it eventually became bloated. I'll check out Avast. Quote

Jim Alfredson Posted July 26, 2009 Report Posted July 26, 2009 I finally got iTunes to re-install after creating an exemption in AVG. Now my other problem; why does it take so long for iTunes to process a tune bought from the iTunes store? It literally takes about 15 minutes per song. It's insane. Quote

For the most part I'll score from Amazon in preference to itunes. Better bit rate and lower prices generally. Usally anything available on itunes can be found on amazon mp3s. having said that - i don't know if that will help the process time. When I buy from either store the time to process is really qick. Usually under a minute. Quote
