mjzee Posted September 18, 2009 Report Posted September 18, 2009 This looks interesting and fun. Release date 9/22/09: WHERE THE ACTION IS! compiles 101 tracks that mix many of the city's brightest stars like The Byrds, Love, The Doors, The Beach Boys, Buffalo Springfield, Captain Beefheart, The Mamas & The Papas, Lowell George, Iron Butterfly, with talented artists whose stellar songcraft sadly flew under the radar The Seeds, The Electric Prunes, The Peanut Butter Conspiracy, The Everpresent Fullness, The Bobby Fuller Four. Tony Pusey Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 Well I really hope they do a better job with this than with there dreadfull SF box of a couple of years back- a real revisionist job, where the preoccupations of the compiler-pre ballroom Nuggets style groups-completely skewed the selection-not so much a paradigm shift as a paradim shaft! Could have been really good but instead we got a Nuggets style collection with only the most ,superficail trawl through the obvious. A missed opportunity. I only keep the box for Country Weather! But where are the out of towners? The bands who migrated? the jazz rock/horn bands? Leaf trough your SF flyers and see who were playing at the ballrooms-certainly not the snotty nosed punks which this box would lead you to believe. Quote
