Dave James Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 I like to listen to Bill Simmons' podcasts on ESPN when he talks to his friend, the uber-Yankee fan, Jacko. In addition to baseball, they sometimes talk television, and this week, a new show on MTV called The Jersey Shore came up in their conversation. As "luck" would have it, while I was surfing the dish tonight, I came upon an episode and decided to watch. Now keep in mind, this is about the hottest thing going right now, at least among the MTV crowd. Well, all I can say is this. If you're looking for hard evidence of the decline of western civilization, go no further. This show is populated by the biggest collection of loser idiot hedonists you can imagine. The one and only thing that any of these characters care about is getting laid. Not that at their age this shouldn't be a consideration, but 24/7? Just wondering. Has anyone else seen this? Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 Damn! I thought this was going to be about organ bands in Atlantic City MG Quote
Brad Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 I thought might be about the best beach spots. We go to south jersey ourselves, Cape May. Love it. Quote
vajerzy Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 Seaside Heights- so probably lots of "Bennys" from No.Jersey...I grew up at the Jersey shore- but in the Atlantic City area. Looks like a stoopid show. Quote
sal Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 I saw an episode. If I was of Italian descent, I would be extremely embarrassed. Quote

BERIGAN Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 saw a clip of the "cast" on Jay Leno's jaywalk gameshow...didn't know Joe Biden's name when his photo was shown. I think the girl at least knew he was the VP I truly don't get the reality shows out there. the Kardashians show...they people have done less than nothing. Someone just started to follow them around with a camera and presto, a star is born. Quote
Dave James Posted December 20, 2009 Author Report Posted December 20, 2009 (edited) Conrad, I just watched the Leno segment on Hulu. The best part of the Q&A was when the gal was shown a picture of Moammar Kadafii and thought it was Lionel Richie. You can't make this stuff up. You just wish you could. Of the three, my favorite is the guy named Mike who refers to himself simply as "The Situation". Like I said, WTF? Edited December 20, 2009 by Dave James Quote
