LWayne Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 Unfortunately, my trip to New York City today was cancelled due to the weather. In anticipation of the trip I had purchased three tickets to the show via E-tix from the Jazz Gallery website that will now go to waste (apparently you need the original credit card that you used to buy the tickets when picking them up at will call) otherwise I would donate them to friends in the area. That's the breaks. If anyone from the board is going to the show tonight I would appreciate your feedback. I had the good fortune of seeing Henry Threadgill once before several years back in Philadelphia at an Ars Nova Workshop event at the International House, and the ZOOID ensemble just blew me away. Feeling pretty sad and frustrated right now... LWayne: Quote
Dave James Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 Wow, that's a drag. Before tossing in the towel, be absolutely sure that you have no recourse given that an "act of God" prevented your attendance. Seems to me, the promoters might be willing to make some extraordinary concessions given the uniqueness of the situation. Have you asked all the right questions of the right people? I just downloaded This Brings Us To, Vol. 1 from iTunes. I could burn you a copy if it would make you feel better. Quote
kh1958 Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 How disappointing--I saw Threadgill once a number of years ago in a band with Amina Claudine Meyers on organ and Brandon Ross on guitar--I would like to repeat the experience. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 Wish I could be there. More than bad luck LWayne, I feel for you. Quote
papsrus Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 ouch. ... this can only mean that some good fortune is now coming your way ... Quote
LWayne Posted February 12, 2010 Author Report Posted February 12, 2010 Thanks all for the kind words. Actually, I did petition E-Tix about my situation and they seemed to be sympathetic to my plight and agreed to issue a refund! However, I am still disappointed to miss the opportunity to see Henry Threadgill again. I will have to soothe myself by listening to "This Brings Us To, Volume 1" over the weekend. Did anybody actually see the show? Thanks, LWayne Quote
