chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 do you get a really high set #? have you ever ordered way late, to receive something you noticed lower? Quote
mellowT Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 If you're referring to the black box sets, yes, sometimes Mosaic recycles serial numbers after a customer turns in a set for credit. I bought the 4-CD Gerry Mulligan set well after it went OOP (it popped up on Last Chance for a brief period) and it came in the low 2000 range. My receipt had a scratched out auto-generated number of 4977 overwritten with the recycled number. Quote
kh1958 Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 Are there actually people who care what the number is on their Mosaic set? Quote
mikelz777 Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 It's meaningless to me. I couldn't care less what number I got, it'll sound the same as the others. Quote
Dave James Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 No no. The higher the number, the older it sounds. I thought everyone knew that. Quote
mikelz777 Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 (edited) So is that why my Columbia, Okeh And Vocalion Lester Young/Count Basie set has a higher number than my other Mosaics? Edited March 15, 2010 by mikelz777 Quote
Brad Posted March 16, 2010 Report Posted March 16, 2010 The number doesn't much bother me one way or the other. I wouldn't think it matters either if you're selling the set, unless maybe you have number one. Quote
