B. Goren. Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 When I was a child (late 60's and early 70's), 'Mission Impossible' was my favorite TV series. For this reason I was so sad to read about the passing of Peter Graves. Quote
Free For All Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 The secretary will now disavow any knowledge of his actions. RIP. Also, he was awesome in Airplane. Quote

BruceH Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 Very sad to hear of his passing. To my generation he'll always be associated with Mission Impossible. One of the obituaries says he appeared on House, but I must have missed that. Quote
Dan Gould Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 One of the obituaries says he appeared on House, but I must have missed that. He wasn't a part of the main story, he had a supporting role - he played the companion of an elderly clinic patient who doesn't really want sex as often as modern chemistry creates the ability, and it turns out neither one really wants sex but thinks the other one does. And then House figures out that they aren't even married but are carrying on an affair. Pretty funny, as I recall. Quote

Rooster_Ties Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 (edited) As a kid, I used to love to watch Mission Impossible when it was in syndication (late 70's, maybe early 80's, give or take) -- missed it the first time around, as I was born in '69. Met Mr. Graves once in person on a fight to Spain back when I was in college (no, he wasn't the pilot). He had HUGE, almost freakishly large hands - I do remember that. I tried to say something nonchalant, like "loved your work on MI", or something of the sort. He graciously said 'thank you', as I recall, with an almost implied bow. RIP. Dave James Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 I go further back than Mission Impossible. My brother and I were big fans of a '50's TV show called Fury. Graves always seemed like someone you might be able to sit down with and have a beer. Not only did he have a 60 year career in show business, but a 60 year marriage as well. R.I.P. Quote
BruceH Posted March 16, 2010 Report Posted March 16, 2010 I always thought it was a little strange how he and brother James Arness don't appear to have any family resemblance to one another, at least to my eyes. Could they have been adopted? But then I suppose brothers don't have to look like each other. Quote
