romualdo
looking for help re the Blue Note 10" New Sounds From The Old World It contains three titles by The Swinging Swedes (Lars Gullin et al) and four titles by the Cool Britons (Johnny Dankworth's Septet - session date of July 29, 1950) Two of the titles by the Brits, namely "Birdland Bounce" & "Leapin' In London" are a bit of a mystery according to the discographies I have (Lord & the British Modern jazz site (http://vzone.virgin.net/davidh.taylor/bebop.htm)) These titles are not listed in either as far as I can find - two different titles are listed July 29th, 1950 (Esquire) personnel as May 18th except that Eric Dawson replaced Joe Muddel, add Marion Williams (vcl). M-7-114 Sam's Song (MW vcl) M-7-115 Haunted Ballroom Theme (JD plays cl) M-7-116 Seven Not Out (Tea For Me) M-7-117 Cherokee In the Blue Note Discography, these two titles have different matrix numbers from the other two in the session July 29th, 1950 -> these titles may be from another session but come up a blank when searched for on the Lord database SSS7-126 Birdland Bounce SSS7-127 Leapin' In London M-7-116 Seven Not Out (Tea For Me) M-7-117 Cherokee are these just different titles for the same songs (this occurred with a number of the Prestige releases from UK/European recordings ie names were changed for the US release) Hopefully someone out there may be able to help Thanks in advance
