Guest Bill Barton Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 I just picked this book up at the library and so far am quite fascinated. Some of the material is familiar, including Frank Kofsky's famous (or infamous, depending on your point-of-view) interview and assorted liner notes, but much of it is fresh to me. And the Kofsky is a new transcription from audiotape, so it has some "new" stuff also. Has anyone else read this yet? Any reactions? 7/4 Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 I own it...maybe I'll get a chance to read it over the holidays. Quote
AllenLowe Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 excellent book; Lewis Porter tells me he was instrumental in getting it on track. Lots of little personal tidbits. Coltrane was not exactly a big talker, but put it all together and it's very interesting. Quote
ghost of miles Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 Just picked this up today, Bill, at the Book Corner in Bloomington, and am hoping to read some of it over the holiday weekend. Quote
Chris DeVito Posted January 30, 2011 Report Posted January 30, 2011 I'm the editor of Coltrane on Coltrane, and I'd be very interested in reading more reactions to/opinions of the book. --Chris DeVito COLTRANE ON COLTRANE: THE JOHN COLTRANE INTERVIEWS www.amazon.com; better bookstores everywhere THE JOHN COLTRANE REFERENCE www.amazon.com; www.routledge.com - - - - - Quote
