Computer Gurus: Database recommendations sought

I got my Atari 1040 ST in 1987, and one of the first things I did was start a database of my record collection. I've been using it ever since.

I no longer use the Atari for anything else, and I would like to start a new database using WinOS.

Can anyone recommend something appropriate? Free is good.

I saw something at tucows the other day that might work, but I thought I would ask here first.

PS - I should add that I want the ability to make a few notes of my own, such as date purchased, date opened, vendor, and years played.

I use a Microsoft excel spread-sheet. You can have as many data fields that you want. Easy to learn and easy to use.

OK, I already have MS Office 2003, and I've never really learned how to use it.

So I have gone to Amazon, and I think I will order this book for beginners. It's a college textbook.

Head Man, that looks great! Unfortunately, 1 gig memory is a requirement, and I have only 512 meg memory.

I learned excel using the "Excel 2007 For Dummies" book. I am sure a similar one exists for 2003.

Now that I have a new refurb with 2 gig of memory, I am looking at Catraxx.

How does it work? Do you have to type everything in, or does it read most of the information off the disc?
