bertrand Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 Someone (I can't remember who) told me that KD's composition 'Butch's Blues' from Arrival of Kenny Dorham (Jaro 1960) is a variation on his earlier piece 'Blue Spring Shuffle' from Quiet Kenny (New Jazz 1959). The two tunes are only 2 months apart. Do you agree? If so, how are they related? It's not that clear to me, but I'm not a musician. Bertrand. Quote
Free For All Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 Other than the fact that they are both blues in the key of F I don't hear much in common between the two melodies. Quote
bertrand Posted February 28, 2011 Author Report Posted February 28, 2011 Maybe it's 'Blue Friday' rather than 'Blue Spring Shuffle'? Bertrand. Quote
