“I decided to look at it from kind of a Zen approach,” said the drummer Van Romaine in a telephone interview from Lubeck, Germany, where he was on tour with Nena — of “99 Luftballons” fame.

“I’ve been there 22 years,” said Mr. Romaine, who is Mr. Iglesias’s music director. “We’ve been on borrowed time. I’m looking at it like we had some great memories and it was a great ride and it’s time to move on.”

I used to see this guy every Wed. night in New Brunswick NJ with a fusion band until he started playing for Steve Morse.
