Disappearing Images

Once or twice lately I've noticed that my posted images disappear. These are mostly cover pics with a jpg extension. They appear to post okay but if I look later they are gone. Any idea what's going wrong.

some pages prohibit linking to their pictures (to keep their data traffic low) but if you clicked on the picture and have it in your browser cache, it will look on your computer as if the linking had worked... kinda hard to test these things, but in theory you should not see a picture in my post initially, but if you click this link

and then reload the post you should see it. (at least that's my guess about what happened)

for an example i could test:

the picture in post 19264 here is not displayed, but jeffcrom probably did not notice because he had looked at the picture here before posting and thus could see it...

this is increasingly getting a problem because more and more sites don't want their pictures displayed elsewhere... the safest way out is to upload pictures to one of those image repositories, forgot the names of those, not as tedious as it sounds but tedious anyway...

When I post an image, I occasionally get a message saying something like - You are not allowed to post that image on this board. So I go back and find another.

I have been using Photo Bucket for a few years, and I recommend it. Your posted image will not disappear as long as you don't delete it from PhotoBucket, or whatever service you choose—there are several good ones.

Thnaks for the replies. I sorta guessed that what Niko descibes was the problem but couldn'y really understand why images appeared on my browser initially but were not there when viewing later. It looks like image hosting may be the answer in he end. Thanks again.

weird, i can't see it! maybe they have different rules depending on where you live...

It's gone now, another case of the disappearing image. Rate your music is not a good place for images.

Last night I posted a picture of a Penderecki album in the classical section. Looked at the post about 4P today and it had disappeared. I was going to repost the picture a few minutes ago, and it had reappeared. Is Rod Serling a moderator on this board?
